Saudi Arabia’s Renewable Energy Ambitions

Perhaps not the most obvious source, however Saudi Arabia have pulled something out of the bag that no other country seems to have got to grips with – a macro economic strategy for energy which exploits renewables as a longer term source of electricity. Importantly they are shifting up the value chain with their crude by going downstream rather than staying with the commodotised side of the market.
In reality this simply means they are looking to get as much cash as possible out of crude and not waste the resource on generating electricity. Good move longer term probably.
