Women lack confidence to climb the greasy pole?

Interesting article in The Standard tonight about women’s role in the workplace. Heather Jackson, Chief Executive – The Womens Business Forum claims 92% of women regard lack of confidence rather than concrete obstacles as their greatest impediment to promotion. Are women in danger of damaging their brand with quotes like this and what was this statistic from?

From experience as an interim management recruiter I know a significant percentage of men suffer from the same issues around confidence and importantly how that confidence can be eroded more easily politically the higher up the organisation you climb.
